President Igor Dodon signed two legislative initiatives. One of them refers to inheritance taxes, while the other one to the capping of salaries of managers of state-owned companies and regulatory institutions, IPN reports.
Igor Dodon suggests that the taxing of first-degree heirs should be only a formality. Thus, the taxes for authenticating wills and issuing legal heir certificates as well as for related notary services would not exceed 1,000 lei.
The second legislative initiative refers to the huge discrepancy between the salaries of managers of regulatory institutions with financial autonomy and of other categories of people and state officials. Igor Dodon considers it is inadmissible to pay unjustified salaries of several ten thousand lei a month in Moldova where about 1 million people live at the poverty line.
The President also proposes reviewing the principles of remunerating managers of state-owned companies and companies with majority state capital, who also get fabulous salaries. He gave the example of the director of the National Agency for Energy Regulator, who is paid about 60,000 lei a month. The director of air traffic services company MoldATSA gets 85,000 lei a month, of the telecom Moldtelecom – over 50,000 lei, etc. He suggested that the salaries of state-run company managers should not exceed two average official salaries, while those of managers of regulatory institutions should not be higher than the salary of the chief of the institution that named these to post.
