President Dodon begins visit to Moscow

President Igor Dodon on March 16 starts a working visit to the Russian Federation. On March 17, the Head of State has a meeting with the President of Russia Vladimir Putin.

Contacted by IPN, Ion Ceban, President Dodon’s spokesman, said the discussions with the Russian President will center on issues concerning the bilateral relations, Moldovan migrants, exports and others.

Earlier, Igor Dodon announced that during his visit to Moscow, he will take part in a forum of representatives of the business communities of Moldova and Russia, alongside members of the President’s Economic Council. While in Russia, they will also examine the investment potential and possibilities of establishing partnerships in the interest of both of the sides so as to sign long-term cooperation agreements.

President Igor Dodon made his first official visit abroad, to Russia, on January 16-18. In the meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, the Head of State made a number of statements assessed by Moldovan analysts as dangerous. Among his assertions was that the position of the parliamentary majority, which is of the Party of Socialists, after the 2018 parliamentary elections will be to end the Association Agreement with the EU and the Head of State will support it.
