Present retirement age in Moldova will not grow

The present pensioning age in Moldova – 57 years for women and 62 for men – will not grow. The Parliament approved on Thursday, October 12 a draft law in this respect. As a result of other amendments operated to the law of State Social Insurances, the length of the minimum due period for offering the right to pension was reduced from 20 to 15 years. These modifications also stipulate the method of offering the pension to the persons ensured on the basis of an individual contract with the National Home of Social Insurances and of the persons who settled in Moldova. The draft also stipulates that the convicted persons could fully benefit form the settled pension and not only of three retroactive years, as settled before. According to the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, these amendments aim at adjusting the legislation to the international instruments Moldova has signed, as well as to implementing the strategic internal acts, as the Economic Growth and Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (EGPRSP), the Strategy on reforming the pension system and the Long-term Framework of Expenses (2005-2007).
