U.S. Senator John McCain considers the presence of Russian troops in the Transnistrian region is a violation of the international norms. The official voiced hope that progress in resolving the Transnistrian dispute will be made at the meeting in the 5+2 format that will be held in Moscow this month, Info-Prim Neo reports. “Territorial integrity is a fundamental principle of the United Nations and other European organizations. The fact that the Russian troops continue to be present in Transnistria represents a violation of the international norms. I hope that progress will be made at the meeting set to take place in the near future,” the Senator told a news conference in Chisinau on June 12. A new round of talks in the 5+2 format will take place in Moscow on June 21.
