The national preselection for the international alternative live music contest Global Battle of the Bands (GBOB) will be held in a Chisinau club on December 20, Info-Prim Neo reports. GBOB Moldova national director Victoria Dobrogean told a news conference that the world final organized by MTV World will take place in Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur on February 26. It will bring together bands from over 30 countries. Six bands have applied to take part in the national preselection so far – “The Glimse”, “ExNN”, “Daytona”, “Paralela 47“, “GOD” (Iasi) and “Hud” (Bucharest). The deadline for submissions is December 19. The participation fee is 360 lei. The winner of the national contest will receive a trophy and €2,000 for the trip to Malaysia. The bands will have the possibility of going on tours abroad, signing contracts with foreign producers, and winning the top prize of US$100,000, said Victoria Dobrogean. In the previous contests, Moldova was represented by “Millenium” (2006), “ExNN” (2007), and “Todo” (2008). None of them won the trophy.
