Premiere in Moldova: Three creation camps exhibit together

Three creation camps for the first time in the Republic of Moldova combined forces and exhibited works together at the Exhibitions Center “Constantin Brâncuși”. Two camps of Moldova, based in Cimișlia and Molovata, are patronized by plastic artist Victor Hristov, while a Romanian camp situated in Retezat is patronized by painter Vasile Sitari. Art lovers and collectors can purchase works at the exhibition that is open between August 12 and August 22, 2021, IPN reports.

In the opening of the exhibition, Dumitru Bolboceanu, president of the Union of Plastic Artists of Moldova, said the creation camps have always been popular with plastic artists from Moldova and abroad. He expressed his regret at the fact that creation camps are not organized more often in our country. “If other artists in the future will want to organize such camps, the Union of Plastic Artists will support such projects,” he stated.

According to Florina Breazu, vice president of the Union of Plastic Artists of Moldova, over 100 works were exhibited at the event and 32 were provided by the Retezat creation camp. “No specific theme is given in creation camps. In Cimișlia and Molovata, the camps are held en plein air so that we can see reproductions of nature – about 80% of the exhibits. The activity at the Retezat creation camp takes place in the workshop and abstract concepts or interpretations of realities are mainly reproduced there,” Florina Breazu stated for IPN.

This project has been supported for many years by the ex-mayor of Cimișlia Gheorghe Răilean. “For Cimișlia town, it was an honor to host these camps. I thank a lot the artists and hope that this thing will be permanent in the culture of our town,” he stated.

The sponsor of the Molovata creation camp, businessman Anatol Crețu said the camps for two years have been different owing to the pandemic. “We must learn again to smile, to return to the daily life, to the small joys of life and to help the artists in what they do. In Molovata, with small steps we managed to stage four editions and to bring artists from 14 countries. All the artists left satisfied and fascinated by our sceneries, by our country. They all remained a united family of artists. They all left to us extraordinary things that we can now contemplate,” stated Anatol Crețu.
