Parliament will vote in the Prime Minister and the Cabinet by the second round because the parliamentary parties, except for the Party of Socialists, do not want early elections. Such conclusions were formulated in the program “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.

Victor Juc, vice director of the Institute of Legal and Political Research of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, considers the early elections will represent the stimulus that will make the MPs vote in the Government by the second round. “The self-preservation instinct of the MPs will represent the key factor. The PDM, PL, the Leanca group and the 14 MPs who left the PCRM can form a majority that will have yet only 50 votes. The PCRM’s position against early elections is impressive. There are ultimately two possibilities – to attract MP Petru Stirbate, who left the PLDM, or to persuade other MPs of this party to vote,” he stated.

Corneliu Ciurea, expert of the Institute for Development and Social Initiative “Viitorul”, believes President Nicolae Timofti will ultimately accept the candidate proposed by the PDM. “There is the decision of the Constitutional Court, which obliges the head of state to nominate the candidate fielded by a parliamentary majority,” he argued.

A similar opinion was stated by the chairman of the Centrist Union of Moldova Mihai Petrache. “I think the head of state will not yield up to provocations and will comply with the Constitutional Court’s decision. It depends on the decisions that will be taken by the parliamentary parties. The dilemma faced by the MPs is whether to remain in Parliament or to accept early elections. I think the self-preservation instinct will prevail,” he said.
