Premier Vlad Filat to hold a number of important meetings

The agreement on small-scale border traffic could be signed on November 13 – 14, when Vlad Filat will meet with Romania’s President Traian Basescu in Bucharest. The announcement was made by the Premier during the TV program “In PROfunzime” (“In Depth”) produced by the channel Pro TV Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to Vlad Filat, the signing of the Convention on Small-Scale Border Traffic will be one of the subjects that will be raised in Bucharest. He also said that the opening of Romanian consulates in Balti and Cahul will be another subject for discussion, stressing that Moldova will fulfill its commitments in this respect. The Moldovan authorities want to open a consulate in Iasi so as to better administer the small-scale border traffic. A meeting with the Russian Premier Vladimir Putin was scheduled for November 20. The meeting will take place in Yalta and will center on the loan promised by Russia to Moldova. Vlad Filat also spoke about the Chinese loan of US$1 billion. He said that the Chinese authorities are interested in investing in Moldova, especially in infrastructure. The Premier said that the talks with the International Monetary Fund were very difficult, but the agreement signed means for Moldova more than the US$590 million that will be provided. “With this loan, we will get access to all the European and international projects that include Moldova,” Filat said, reiterating that the salaries will not be reduced and there will be no layoffs. Vlad Filat said that the loans raised by Moldova are a natural thing as the salaries and pensions must be paid and the schools and kindergartens must be supplied with heat. In another development, he said that after over a month of negotiations, the ministers were allowed to field candidates for deputy ministers. “After a series of discussions, we managed to overcome the obstacles. The deputy ministers will be named starting with November 4, when the Government will hold a meeting,” he said. Speaking about the election of the head of state, Vlad Filat said he is certain that the PCRM will vote for the candidate for the presidency. “The head of state will be elected. I possess certain information and I’m sure about it. It’s a pity that we lost so much time,” Filat added.
