Premier urges Cabinet members to keep away from election campaign

Prime Minister Pavel Filip strongly recommended the Cabinet members to keep away from the election campaign. He made such a recommendation at the start of the September 14 meeting of the Cabinet, IPN reports.

“It is rumored that the data from the Population Register will be falsified. As a former Minister of Information and Communication Technology, I assure you that this Register is a modern one. The existence of this automated information service was one of the arguments that enabled Moldova to get a visa-free regime with the EU. The data from the Register practically cannot be manipulated,” stated the Premier.

In this connection, he called on the incumbent ICT Minister Vasile Botnari to give a presentation on the Register for journalists, observers and electoral competitors so that they know how things stand.

Pavel Filip said the Government pleads for correct and transparent elections. He urged the Cabinet members to keep away from the election campaign and to focus on their duties, particularly because they have a lot to do until the elections and should first of all center on the reforms planned in the Memorandum with the IMF that is to be approved by the Executive Board in October.
