Prime Minster Valeriu Strelet transmitted to the young people the message that the country’s future is in their hands. They are those who can move things on and can improve the country’s image. Within the Festival of Youth on August 12, the Premier said a large part of the young people say they want to remain or return to the country and to work together so as to offer Moldova a chance for a better life, IPN reports.
The Premier said that together with his team, he aims to create orientation and counseling systems in the area of labor and labor opportunities and to encourage the young people’s access to the labor market.” Special attention will be paid to the young people from villages or small towns for which we intends to extend the stimulation mechanism so that they work at the place of birth and do not have to come to Chisinau to find a better-paid job. A solution is to develop new programs by which to promote entrepreneurship among young people, including by diversifying the opportunities of starting businesses,” he stated.
Minister of Youth and Sport Loretta Handrabura said the sustainable development in the area of youth represents a priority because it equally includes the priorities of the youth policies at the national, European and international levels. The existing youth policies must be urgently implemented because delays are experienced in a number of areas. The plan of youth sector priorities for the immediate period contains very explicit tasks, with well-defined actions and strategies.
UNICEF Representative in Moldova Nune Mangasaryan said the goal of the event is to congratulate the young people and to underline once again the importance of youth civic participation and engagement. “The voice of the young people must not only be heard. It must also play a decisive role,” stated Nune Mangasaryan.
Head of the Political and Economic Section of the EU Delegation to Moldova Wicher Slagter noted that the results in such areas as youth civic engagement are not very gladdening in Moldova. Life does not mean only studies and life for oneself, but also active participation and engagement in society. This is the goal that should be pursued.
The Youth Festival was organized by the National Youth Council of Moldova, with support from the Ministry of Youth and Sport of Moldova and the United Nations Organization in Moldova, on the occasion of the International Youth Day that is celebrated on August 12.
