Even if the Republic of Moldova is confronted by a major crisis, of the Ukrainian refugees, and was earlier struck by other crises, the authorities do not forget to do reforms that would make the country more competitive and would bring the Moldovans back, Premier Natalia Gavrilița said in a meeting with representatives of the Moldovan diaspora in Germany. The meeting was held as part of a Moldovan delegation’s working visit to Berlin, IPN reports, quoting the Government’s press service.
The official spoke about the efforts made by the authorities to provide new economic and investment opportunities, saying the offering of assistance in developing businesses and creating attractive jobs for the citizens is a priority. The Government remains committed to ensuring rural development. Recently, there was launched the European Village project through which the mayor’s officers will be able to access the funds they need for their communities. About 800 million lei was allocated in the state budget for the purpose.
Natalia Gavrilița also said that the Republic of Moldova is no longer isolated. “Our partners stand by us and this is felt through the assistance that comes to the Republic of Moldova and through the increased financing offered to our country,” noted the official.
“We plan to modernize and digitize the consular services so as to increase the quality and speed of the services provided for the diaspora,” said Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu. He spoke about the discussions he constantly has with his counterparts with a view to taking concrete actions for the diaspora, including reducing roaming charges, recognizing diplomas and simplifying the conversion of driver’s licenses for Moldovan citizens.
“We will continue making effort, together with our partners, so as to implement projects for the benefit of all the citizens, both those who are in the country and those who settled abroad,” noted Nicu Popescu.
The Moldovan delegation led by Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița took part in the Moldova Support Conference staged in Berlin by Germany, France and Romania on April 5. It consisted of the Government’s secretary general Dumitru Udrea, Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Spînu, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Minister of Labor and Social Protection Marcel Spatari, Minister of the Interior Ana Revenco, and secretary of state at the Ministry of Justice Veronica Mihailov.
