Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet on October 1 had a meeting with a number of officials of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington. The sides discussed the conditions that need to be ensured for Moldova to sign a new agreement with the IMF, IPN reports.
According to the Government’s press service, the meeting involved IMF Deputy Managing Director Mitsuhiro Furusawa, Director of the European Department Poul Mathias Thomsen and IMF Executive Director for Moldova Menno Snel.
Valeriu Strelet reasserted the Moldovan Governments’ firm commitment to promote the reforms needed to ensure the country’s financial stability and to restore the efficient cooperation relations with the foreign partners.
An IMF mission is visiting Chisinau during September 22 – October 6, 2015 in preparation of the 2015 Article IV consultations, as well as to initiate discussions on policies that could form a basis for an IMF-supported program.
