Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici called on the National Anticorruption Center, the Ministry of Economy, the Civil Aeronautic Authority and the Ministry of the Interior to carry out investigations and determine if the money stolen from three Moldovan banks is being invested in the Chisinau International Airport, which was leased out to a Russian company, IPN reports.
Such a hypothesis was formulated in the May 7 parliamentary hearing by the director of the National Anticorruption Center Viorel Chetraru.
Chiril Gaburici asked presenting exhaustive information about how the company to which the Chisinau International Airport was leased out fulfills its obligations, including the investment ones.
The airport was leased out to the Russian company Avia Invest for a period of 49 years. The company pledged to make investments of US$250 million in the development of this facility of national importance.
