Prime Minister Pavel Filip requested full mobilization for preparing the population and housing census and the general agricultural census, the 2020 rotund. In a meeting with the Representative of the United Nations Population Fund in Moldova Rita Columbia, Pavel Filip underlined the importance of taking high-quality censuses with precise data that will be used to work out public policy documents, IPN reports.

According to the Government’s press service, in the meeting the interlocutors examined aspects of census organization. The data could be collected through the agency of mobile devices, with the possibility of online self-responses. “If we use the IT methodology, we will only gain. It is a much safer method and the data will be processed swifter and will be used for efficient planning,” stated Prime Minister Pavel Filip.

The population and housing census could be taken in 2021, while the general agricultural census shortly afterward.

For her part, Rita Columbia stressed the necessity of covering all the stages in preparing the exercise so as to obtain high-quality data and of developing the cooperation with foreign partners, including the UNFPA, which will provide assistance in preparing and taking the census.
