Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet presented a progress report 42 days after the investiture of the Cabinet, IPN reports. “We are at a crossroads and, when the situation becomes tense, demands are formulated for the Government to be dismissed. We must calm things down in the country as most of the people want not resignations, but want to be sure that the Government managed to achieve a part of the set objectives and makes effort further,” the Premier told the journalists.
Thus, in the period the Government had six meetings and examined about 150 subjects. The Committee on Financial Stability was convened four times, the Premier’s Economic Council – one time and the Governmental Commission for Reintegration - also one time. A meeting was held with district heads.
Among the objectives set and the measures planned for achieving them, Strelet mentioned the restoration of good relations with the development partners and the preparation for the visit of the IMF mission that will come on September 22 to discuss the signing of a new memorandum, which will create a platform for macroeconomic stabilization and economic growth.
The Premier also referred to the remedying of the situation in the financial-banking sector. For the purpose, there was launched the procedure for liquidating the banks involved in thefts and selecting companies that will continue the investigations into the stealing. He also spoke about the internal strengthening of the country and the series of measures taken to establish a constructive dialogue with the business sector.
“The executive confirmed and assumed without reserves, based on the government program, the strategic objective of European integration of Moldova by approving the updated plan for implementing the Association Agreement with the EU and the Government’s plan of activity for August 2015 – December 2016,” stated Strelet.
The Premier noted that the Government will continue to work until it enjoys the political support of Parliament and will focus on the obtaining of concrete results that will improve the people’s lives.
