Premier Recean: Sale of vote is a serious crime

Prime Minister Dorin Recean reminds that the sale of the vote is a serious crime and it is punishable by a fine of over 37,000. He urged the citizens to vote honestly in the runoff presidential election this Sunday, IPN reports.

According to the head of the executive, the investigations of the police, the National Anticorruption Center and prosecutors demonstrated the extent of vote stealing on October 20.

"It was something unprecedented and I noticed that there are interpretations and even manipulation because the criminal group tells the people that the penalties and fines will be forgotten after November 3. I want to draw attention to the fact that the investigations will continue after November 3, and after November 4 and 5 as well," Dorin Recean stated at the beginning of the Cabinet meeting.

He noted that the sale of the vote is a serious crime and it is punishable by a fine of 37,000 lei. But the people can be exempted from this fine if they cooperate with the police, with the law enforcement agencies. "But, be careful! If they commit the crime a second time, then they cannot be spared of this fine. We have all noticed that the law enforcement agencies document absolutely all violations. This was shown on October 20. This will also happen on November 3. So, everyone should vote honestly," said Prime Minister Dorin Recean.
