Premier Recean: Let's vote freely and consciously in runoff election

Dorin Recean urges everyone to mobilize and go out to vote on November 3, when the runoff presidential election will take place. The Prime Minister calls on the citizens to vote freely and consciously. “They cannot cheat as much as we can vote,” said the official, quoted by IPN.

"I want to thank all those who voted in the election, absolutely everyone. What I noticed is that, despite all these attempts to rig the vote, to spread propaganda, to stir up discord among the people, the citizens of the Republic of Moldova said a firm "Yes" to the referendum and said a firm "Yes" for us to build our country according to the European model. And I want to congratulate everyone on this decision," Dorin Recean said at the beginning of the Cabinet meeting.

According to the Prime Minister, the Government also has a lesson to learn. "We need to go and continue to explain to the people what it means to build a prosperous life here at home, and why we shouldn't allow to be exposed to this risk of fraud and, in fact, electoral fraud. I understand that the relevant bodies will present the extent of electoral fraud and then I expect everyone, all the election contestants who speak out and are effectively for democracy, to condemn this electoral fraud effort," said the head of the executive.

At Sunday's referendum, 50.46% of the electors voted in favor of amending the Constitution so as to enshrine the Republic of Moldova’s accession to the European Union in it?". In the concurrent presidential election, the PAS’ candidate Maia Sandu won 42.45% of the vote, and the PSRM’s candidate Alexandr Stoianoglo – 25.98%.  The two politicians will contend in the runoff vote on November 3.
