Following the cancellation of a series of flights by Air Moldova airline, Premier Dorin Recean said the persons who purchased tickets, but could not fly can get their money back either they paid by card or not, IPN reports.
“What is important is that the Government should solve the systemic problem. The Government will not deal with the problem of the company that was robbed and left with debts and the people have now to suffer,” the official stated in a news conference.
The citizens should know that if they paid for tickets by card, they can get back the amounts according to the existing procedures. “I refer to the MasterCard and VisaCard systems that have an automated refunding procedure for non-provided services. When they bought a ticket with the card and this service wasn’t offered, the citizens can recover the money immediately by making such a request,” said Dorin Recean.
During an unplanned state inspection, the Civil Aviation Authority determined that Air Moldova committed a number of violations in the reimbursement of money for tickets to cancelled flights. Among the violations is the non-observance of the repayment period. Under the law, the whole price of ticket at the purchase price is paid back within seven days, not during 30 days as the operator did. As a result, Air Moldova was obliged to fully refund the money for the bought tickets to all the applicant passengers who were affected by the cancellation of flights during April 21-25, 2023 by May 2.
