Premier pleads for permanent and constructive dialogue with local authorities

Prime Minister Pavel Filip said that he aims to establish a constant dialogue and close cooperation relations with the local public authorities. In a meeting with district heads, the Premier noted that the meetings with representatives of the local public authorities will be held on a regular basis so that they address all the existing problems, while the executive’s decisions are communicated from the first source, IPN reports.

“The new Government is determined to help the local communities. We will ask the district heads to present a list of priorities for districts so that we know the urgent matters and see how swiftly we can help solve them,” said Pavel Filip.

According to him, important development projects, either national or local ones, can be implemented only in an atmosphere of stability. “Nothing can be built in conditions of chaos. The chaos affects the economy, the administration and the people. The Government will be unable to appropriately help the districts if there is no stability,” stated the Premier.

The head of Anenii Noi district Alexandru Barbarosie approved of the idea of holding regular meetings, saying these should take place at least once in a quarter. He signaled that there is not enough money in the district for paying salaries to teachers, while some of the social institutions could be disconnected from the power supply because they didn’t pay the bills. Similar situations were reported by other district heads.

In this connection, the Premier said that he today sent a letter to the International Monetary Fund by which an IMF mission is invited to come to Chisinau as soon as possible to discuss possibilities of unlocking foreign financing for Moldova.
