Premier offers condolences to his Russian counterpart

Prime Minister Iurie Leanca sent a letter of condolence to his Russian counterpart Dmitri Medvedev in connection with the terrorism acts committed in Volgograd town, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué from the Government.

“The people in Moldova have been deeply saddened by the news of the terrorist attacks in Volgograd, which claimed human lives. Such tragedies can leave no one indifferent. The Moldovan people are near you in these moments. This tragedy points again to the necessity of joining efforts in the fight against terrorism,” reads the letter.

According to Russian press reports, more than 30 people were killed and over 100 were injured in two explosions in Volgograd. The first blast took place at the railway terminal in the evening of December 29, while the second in a trolleybus in the morning of December 30.
