The Prime Minister of Luxemburg Jean-Claude Juncker will pay a visit to Moldova by the end of this year, Moldovan Premier Iurie Leanca said in a press briefing. According to him, effort will be made for the visit to take place before the Eastern Partnership Summit of Vilnius, IPN reports.
Iurie Leanca said that the meeting with the Luxembourgian official was held on the sidelines of the 15th meeting of the Moldova – EU Cooperation Council. The report of the last mission that assessed the progress made by Moldova is positive, but the EU officials noted certain shortcomings.
Leanca voiced hope that the next assessment mission will determine that Moldova fulfilled all the conditions. Steps should be now taken to introduce passports with integrated chip, create a fixed border supervision system and a database of trafficked persons, reform the National Anticorruption Center, and continue the implementation of reforms in the justice sector.
Luxemburg is ready to send a team of experts to help Moldova adjust the regulations from the financial-banking sector to the EU so as to increase stability in the field. Iurie Leanca made a request for assistance in this respect.
Iurie Leanca invited his Luxembourgian counterpart to visit Moldova together with a group of businessmen so as to identify investment projects.
