Premier meets with Russian ambassador

Moldova and Russia will take concrete steps to resume the work of the intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation this autumn, following a recent telephone conversation between Prime Minister Valeriu Strelets and his Russian counterpart Dmitri Medvedev. This was discussed at a meeting between Strelets and Russian Ambassador Farit Muhametshin, IPN reports.

In the interlocutors' opinion, resuming the Commission's activity will enable the identification of mutually acceptable solutions to remove barriers to the trade and economic relations between the two countries, the Moldovan Government said in a press release.

Valeriu Strelets expressed his hope that resuming dialogue at intergovernmental level as well as restoring direct ties between specialized institutions will help to solve current issues in the Moldova-Russia relationship.

The Russian diplomat conveyed to Valeriu Strelets a congratulatory message from Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev on the occasion of Moldova's Independence Day, to be celebrated on August 27.
