Premier meets with Ambassador of Ukraine

Prime Minister Pavel Filip on November 1 met with Ukraine’s Ambassador to Moldova Ivan Gnatishin. The officials discussed the current state and prospects of the bilateral Moldovan-Ukrainian relations, IPN reports.

According to the Government’s press service, in the meeting the officials conferred on the implementation level of the agreements reached in the recent meeting of the Moldovan Premier and President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.

The interaction between the two states within international organizations was another subject for discussion. No other details were made public.

It should be noted that the press reported that the Ukrainian diplomat was summoned to Kiev for consultations.

Contacted by IPN, first secretary of the Embassy of Ukraine Sergey Orlov said the ambassador was called to Kiev to discuss topical subjects. The exact date of the trip is not known.

Update: Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Andrei Galbur also met with Ambassador Ivan Gnatishin. In a press release, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs says the discussion was held in connection with the summoning of the diplomat to Kiev for consultations. The sides reiterated their unconditional support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine and for the pro-European development course of the two states. The officials also discussed the way in which the agreements reached by Prime Minister Pavel Filip and President Petro Poroshenko in a recent meeting are implemented.

According to Interfax Ukraine, the summing of the ambassador to Kiev could be related to the statements made by the candidate for President of Moldova Igor Dodon. On a TV channel, this said that Crimea belongs to the Russian Federation.
