Valeriu Strelet on August 6 made his first visit to Comrat as Prime Minister. “We are a team and must work together to modernize Moldova,” the Prime Minister said in a meeting with the Governor of Gagauzia Irina Vlah, IPN reports.
The officials discussed a number of topical issues such as the rise in the prices of energy resources, the measures taken by the Government to ensure stability in the banking system, the implementation of investment projects and provision of state assistance for supporting the region’s socioeconomic development. They also referred to the governmental programs and donors’ programs and underlined the need for the representatives of Gagauzia to take a more active part in the work of the ministerial bodies and the national bodies that coordinate the external assistance, and the necessity of opening a Local Development Agency in Comrat by the end of this year.
“We highly appreciate the fact that you made your first field trip to Comrat. It is a positive signal. I’m confident that we will have efficient cooperation relations so that we could solve the problems faced by the region,” said Irina Vlah.
The Premier’s visit continued at the Comrat State University, where he met with deputies of the People’s Assembly and of the Executive Committee of Gagauzia, with representatives of the business community and social institutions working in the region.
