Premier: I welcome European Council’s commitment to develop Moldova–EU relations

“The messages are clear and we understand them perfectly. I welcome the commitment of the Council of the European Union to develop the relations between Moldova and the EU and reassert that the Government of Moldova takes steps in this regard too,” Prime Minister Pavel Filip said, referring to the Council’s resolution on Moldova, which says that the Government of Moldova should prioritize reforms aimed at addressing the politicization of state institutions, systemic corruption, etc., IPN reports.

“I found in these conclusions the confirmation that the direction chosen by the Government of Moldova is a correct one. Several punctual reactions. First of all, we center our government agenda on the implementation of the Association Agreement, based on the people’s expectations. Secondly, we move towards a profound institutional reform and work on the strengthening of the financial-banking institutions, anticorruption authorities and public administration and on improving the investment climate,” the Premier wrote on a social networking site.

Pavel Filip said the Government already acts and will continue to act and has constant communication with the media, civil society, the opposition and regions. Any difficulty can be and must be solved by constructive dialogue. All these subjects will be raised in the February 17 meeting of the governmental commission for European integration.

In its resolution, the Council of the European Union reaffirms its commitment to strengthening the political association and economic integration between the European Union and the Republic of Moldova. The Council says the European Union is convinced that the current difficulties can be solved only via constructive dialogue among all political forces in the country.
