Premier Greceanai instructs ministers to hold news conferences monthly

Prime-Minister Zinaida Greceanai ordered the ministers and the heads of state agencies to organize news conferences. “I demand you to hold news conferences on a regular basis, at least once a month, and to communicate information about the activities of the institutions you manage to society. You get this as an order!” Greceanai said at the Government's sitting of Wednesday, 14 May. Info-Prim Neo reports that the Premier urged her subalterns not to forget about the program of the Cabinet which sets as priority the insurance of the media's freedom and of the access of the wide public to information. “More and more often, there emerge signals that the situation in this area is not perfect, the recent surveys emphasizing these assessments on behalf of the media,” the head of the Government said. She obliged the central authorities to employ people exclusively responsible for the communication with the press. “I ask the chiefs of the central public authorities to show openness in their relationships with the mass-media,” Greceanai requested. The ministers will thus have to inform society on the achievements of their subalterns, but also about the existent problems. Later also first deputy premier Igor Dodon confirmed the ministers are to execute this instruction.
