Prime Minister Pavel Filip said Moldova’s attitude and relationship with the International Monetary Fund are more important than the financial aspect. In a meeting with the IMF Executive Director Anthony De Lannoy, the Premier stated that owing to the program with the IMF, the relations with the foreign partners were restored and a broad reform agenda was implemented, IPN reports, quoting the Government’s press service.

“Owing to the made efforts, the Republic of Moldova is on the way of building a healthy banking system together with such European investors as Banca Transilvania and the consortium that involves the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development,” said Pavel Filip. He also said that important reforms were done in the social, justice, business and public administration sectors. Even if the expected results weren’t achieved in all the sectors, there is determination to complete the initiated changes.

The Premier underlined that the Republic of Moldova pays special attention to the program with the IMF and will continue to focus on its implementation. “We have the wish and capacities needed to implement the reform agenda. We proved this by ensuring economic growth, by creating new jobs and by launching new social programs, such as the “First House 1”, the “First House 2”, meal vouchers and the program “Good Roads for Moldova”,” stated Pavel Filip.

“The discussions with the Moldovan authorities are easy because a lot of effort has been made to implement the program with the International Monetary Fund,” said Anthony De Lannoy. He thanked the Moldovan authorities for the good cooperation, encouraging them to continue reforms. He said the IMF is an economic, not political organization and it assesses the country based on the achieved results.
