Premier Filip regrets Tanase’s leaving

Prime Minister Pavel Filip expressed his regret at Alexandru Tanase’s decision to leave the post of minister of justice, IPN reports.

Pavel Filip said Alexandru Tanase is a professional who showed that a lot can be done in a short period of time too. “He worked out a plan, a small justice sector reform. This will be anyway put into practice, even if Alexandru Tanase tendered his resignation. On the other hand, I understand his reasons as the denigration should not affect the Government,” he stated.

The Premier noted that the resignation will also be examined in the meeting of the Democratic Party, which proposed Alexandru Tanase for the post of minister of justice.

Tanase announced his decision to resign after a phone conversation between businessman Veaceslav Platon and him dating from 2015, when he was president of the Constitutional Court, was made public by the press. In this, Veaceslav Platon said the then governor of the National Bank Dorin Dragutanu took part in the banking fraud and he had evidence of this. The businessman also said that no one was looking for the stolen money.

After the conversation was published, Alexandru Tanase said he cannot be sure of the authenticity of the recording as the discussion took place several years ago.
