Premier Filip has meeting with EU High-Level Advisers

The reforms promoted by the Government and the activity priorities for the immediate period were presented by Prime Minister Pavel Filip in a meeting with EU High-Level Advisers on November 2. The meeting also involved the Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Peter Michalko, IPN reports.

According to the Government’s press service, the EU Advisers spoke about the progress made in the areas in their charge and about the solved problems. Pavel Filip said he appreciates the support and expertise provided by the EU Advisers, which is very important in the Government reform.

The Premier noted that the central administration reform is at the final stage. Secretaries of state were named at most of the ministries and the contest to fill the posts of secretaries of state will be closed soon. The Government reform is aimed at increasing the capacities of the public institutions and at optimizing their activity. “I’m confident that we move in the right direction. The implementation of the reform agenda will continue next year even if this is an electoral year,” stated Pavel Filip.

The Premier said the reforms are not done for the foreign partners, but for the citizens of the Republic of Moldova. The pension system reform launched on the Government’s initiative started to produce results. It is important for the Government to have capacity to set the priorities itself and to ensure more efficient use of the foreign assistance.

For his part, Ambassador Peter Michalko said the European Union is ready to continue to offer Moldova assistance to implement the Association Agreement and reforms for the people’s benefit.

Currently, 21 EU High-Level Advisers provide assistance to the Government in implementing the reform agenda.
