Premier discusses made progress and roadmap with European Commission representatives

The executive is determined to implement reforms so as to regain the confidence of the people and external partners, Prime Minister Pavel Filip said in a meeting with representatives of the European Commission. For their part, the European officials underlined the EU’s readiness to support the Republic of Moldova, IPN reports.

According to the Government’s press service, the Premier and the representatives of the European Commission analyzed the progress made by the Moldovan authorities and the roadmap that includes the measures that will be taken until July 31, 2016. Pavel Filip said the areas signaled as problematic coincide with those based on which the Government prioritized its work for the first 100 days.

The Premier noted that a number of laws that are important for implementing the DCFTA with the EU were adopted in the first sittings of Parliament and underlined the importance of resuming the dialogue with the IMF. He expressed his confidence that in concert with Parliament, they will manage to meet the requirements for signing a new accord with the IMF and for unlocking the external financing.

For their part, the representatives of the Delegation of the European Commission approved of the Government’s efforts to make progress with the reform agenda, including the roadmap’s actions, saying the EU is determined to assist Moldova in implementing the Association Agreement.

Among the main actions that need to be taken in the context of the preparations for the meeting of the Association Council, the officials mentioned the advancing of the dialogue with the IMF for signing a new memorandum, the banking system reform, the fight against corruption, the justice sector reform and the public administration reform.
