May 29 is the last day of negotiations on the creation of a parliamentary majority that would vote in the new Government. On May 30, Prime Minister designate Iurie Leanca is expected in Parliament. Political commentator Olga Nicolenco believes that the Leanca Government will not be invested without a signed agreement as the parties do not have enough confidence in each other to make a verbal accord and vote based on it.
“I don’t think that a Government can be installed only based on a verbal agreement. There is not much time left until Thursday. However, there is time to reach an agreement, if they wish and have the sense of self-protection. If they do not, they will suffer the consequences,” the political commentator stated for IPN.
Olga Nicolenco, who is also an expert in electoral strategies, said that now the parties, especially the PLDM, hold discussions harshly and trenchantly, which is a mistake. “It’s not the time now for tough discussions as they will arrive in the trenches of the electoral war. They should make concessions each and reach an agreement. It is very important to reach this compromise,” she stated.
She also said that no party now, even the PCRM, have electoral messages for the possible early legislative elections. “What will they tell the people if there are early elections? Nothing. The fashion will be for the politicians to quarrel and to criticize each other. The voters will understand nothing in the end,” she stated.
The Government is voted in by at least 51 votes of MP.
