The municipal authorities examined 21 apartments from the apartment building situated at 10/2 Independentei St, whose attic-like apartment story burned completely as a result of a short circuit on May 1 and whose apartments were seriously affected by the water used to extinguish the fire and by this summer’s rain. The damage caused to the dwellers was assessed at 3,000 lei to over 50,000 lei per apartment, depending on the floor, IPN reports.
Head of Botanica district Vladimir Guritsenko Monday said that about 53,000 lei will be needed to extensively repair a flooded apartment located on the fifth floor, while an apartment from the first floor will be repaired at a cost of about 2,000-3,000 lei. As many as 19 apartments from the fifth floor and two apartments from the first floor had been examined.
Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chritoaca proposed that the damage sustained by the dwellers should be grouped according to three criteria: slightly serous, serious, and very serious. “I request making sure that the works are completed by September. About 3.5 million lei will be allocated from the reserve fund for the purpose,” he stated.
The head of the Public Amenities Division Petru Gontea said he is dissatisfied with the pace of the works to reconstruct the attic-like apartment story and more workers are needed. Negotiations are still held with the contractor that is executing the works. The contractor assures that all the works go according to plan, but they do not rule out the possibility of changing the contractor.
A number of 28 apartments of the attic-like apartment story built at 10/2 Independentei St in Botanica district of Chisinau were fully destroy by fire on May 1 this year.
