The preliminary data of the census taken on May 12 – 25 will be published this December, while the final statistics in at least 27 months. Director of the National Bureau of Statistics Lucia Spoiala said that the coverage and census taking percentage will be made public in several days, IPN reports.
The census will not be continued after May 25, as the media reported. During the two weeks of the census, about 1,000 people called to find out details about the census, while approximately 200 persons called to complain.
The census takers who committed violations risk not being remunerated for the work they did. Lucia Spoiala told a news conference that some of the census takers didn’t manage to question all the people they had on the list because some of the respondents gave answers and then called the census taker at home again to correct the answers, subjecting them thus to a double effort.
According to Lucia Spoiala, during two weeks between June 16 and June 29, 100 census takers will carry out verification inspections. They will go to several homes to see how the census taking methodology was obeyed, especially as regards the compatibility and qualitative security of the actions.
If there are two questionnaires on the same person, one completed by a family member and another one completed by the given person for example, the questionnaire filled out in the settlement where the person works, studies and lives will be taken as the main.
The margin of error of the census is +/- 6%.
