The Cabinet approved minimum safety and health at work requirements for protecting the pregnant working women, women who gave birth in the recent past and those who breastfeed, IPN reports.
Under the bill, the employers will assess any risk to the safety and health of female employees and the possible negative effects on pregnancy or breastfeeding and will take the necessary measures to remove these. Thus, these female employees cannot be obliged to do work that can pose a specific risk, such as exposure to chemical agents and radiation, the noxious working conditions, including night shifts, exposure to extreme temperature limits and mental and physical tiredness, being excluded.
If unfavorable conditions for performing the activity are identified, the employer will order to temporarily modify the working conditions and program, to change the workplace and to exempt from obligations the given category of employees for the period of the safety and health protection.
The employers will also inform the pregnant working women, women who gave birth in the recent past and those who breastfeed about the professional risks to which they are exposed through training seminars.
The decision takes effect on January 1, 2017.
