Prague Summit ends
On May 7in Prague, Andrei Stratan, Moldova's foreign minister in office, participated in the summit launching the Eastern Partnership, organized by the Czech presidency of the European Union. The summit brought together heads of states and governments from those 27 member states of the EU, and from those six states invited to attend the Eastern partnership, announces a communique of the Chisinau Foreign Ministry, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
In his speech, Andrei Stratan referred to the prospects of the relations with the European Union, mentioning that “the European integration represents a constant and irreversible priority in the foreign and domestic policy of Moldova. We permanently use all the extant possibilities to get closer to this objective,” the deputy premier in office said.
“The latest years our relations have constantly progressed. We have implemented most of the provisions of the EU-Moldova Action Plan. New EU mechanisms have been launched to finance projects, while the authorities of my country undertake all the necessary measures to realize the common objectives we have,” Andrei Stratan said.
“Th EU market has been gradually opened for the Moldovan products by the Autonomous Trade Preferences. We have created new initiatives meant to ease the cooperation in the field of domestic affairs, especially by launching the EUBAM mission, by signing the Mobility Partnership, by opening the Common Visa Center in Chisinau. The EU pays more and more attention and makes efforts these years to contribute to the settlement of the Transnistrian problem,” said the Chisinau official.
“Deepening the relations can be realized by developing the commercial relations and contacts, and their development means movement. We all realize that the movement of the persons within the EU space is regulated by the EU standards, but we should recognize that the Moldovan citizens cope with problems in getting EU visas,” said the Foreign Minister.
Moldova has wanted for some time to get a simplification of the process of getting visas for the EU countries, but, at the same time, it introduces the visa regime for the Romanian citizens – a decision criticized by the European Parliament.
