PPRM beings election campaign

The People’s Party of the Republic of Moldova (PPRM) has officially started it election campaign. Decision makers of the party said the PPRM’s goal is to come to power and this can happen only if they manage to conquer the people’s hearts. Heavyweights of the party presented the platform entitled “For a new Moldova”. The party’s symbol is the apple, which represents health, power, labor and welfare, said the chairman of the PPRM Alexandru Oleinic, quoted by IPN.

The party’s leader stated that the Moldovans want a change, need new politicians and a new government. “Our projects and ideas are the result of three years of field work during which we familiarized ourselves with the people’s problems and worked out solutions to them. The People’s Party was born from the disappointment of most of this country’s people with the rulers who governed until now, in the hope of a better future, and from our wish and power to build it,” stated Alexandru Oleinic.

According to the politician, the Republic of Moldova is a corrupt state where the personal interests and the party interests are put above the people’s interests and where the head of state is not elected by the people, but depending on the interests of a group of people. The party collected over 150,000 signatures in favor of replacing the method of electing the head of state by the people’s direct vote.

The PPRM considers that a joint electoral system should be used in Moldova. If it comes to power, the party will put forward an initiative to reduce the number of MPs from 101 to 71. Alexandru Oleinic stated that Moldova is the European state with the higher number of MPs per capita. The party will also propose decreasing the number of ministries and public servants. “The People’s Party will also promote the Lustration Law so as to clear the political class of the inheritance of the Communist regime. The country needs new and honest politicians,” he said.

The party’s first deputy chairman Valeriu Cosarciuc spoke about the commitment to support the farmers. If the PPRM takes power, it will eliminate the taxes on any kind of income from agricultural activities for a period of minimum five years. Each farmer will receive by 2,000 lei per hectare from the state to cultivate the land and there will be by a processing company in every village.

The PPRM’s platform also says that by at least one school will be opened in every village. Guaranteed work places will be offered to the graduates of vocational schools and universities. At least 1,000 scholarships will be offered annually from the state budget.

The PPRM will be under No. 12 in the ballots for the November 30 parliamentary elections.
