The brutal persecution of members of the Political Party “Our Party” (PPPN) shows that the party is a political organization “of which the regime is afraid the most”. The PPPN condemns the regime’s attacks on the party’s leader Renato Usatyi, activists and local elected officials all over the country and demands that its activists should be set free and that the persecution of mayors and councilors of the party should be stopped. Such statements are contained in a resolution that was adopted in the party’s fifth extraordinary congress, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the PPPN.
“The congress ascertained that the state capturing level increased a lot during the past few years. Moldova is under the full control of an oligarchic group, which is of the Democratic Party led by its president, who destroyed all his opponents in order to gain control of the party. All the ruling bodies act in the interests of this group, to the detriment of society. With such a government, Moldova does not have a future,” says the resolution.
The PPPN insists on the de-politicization of the state institutions. It considers that the opposition should control the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Central Election Commission, the Broadcasting Coordination Council and the Audit Office. “We demand early parliamentary elections, in full compliance with the international norms and standards concerning the free and democratic expression of the people’s will,” says the resolution.
The party’s chairman Renato Usatyi, who could not attend the congress, communicated through videoconferencing. In his speech, Usatyi said that today the party is one of which the ruling regime is afraid the most. “The Political Party “Our Party” is a pro-Moldovan party that shares the ideals of an independent state. “Our Party” considers the key goal of the whole society is to build a viable Moldovan state that would ensure the development of society. This implies the constitution of a new republic, based on a new Constitution,” stated Usatyi.
In the congress, it was decided to name two new deputy chairpersons of the party. These posts will be held by Balti councilor Elena Gritsko and the party’s ex-candidate for Moldova’s presidency Dumitru Chubashenko.
