PPPDA will insist on keeping 16,000 lei intended for doctors infected with COVID-19

The MPs of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” will insist on the abrogation of the article that provides for the annulment of the lump sum of 16,000 lei that was paid to healthcare workers who got infected with COVID-19 at the workplace, MP Liviu Vovc announced in a news conference.

“While the frontline doctors are overtired, struggling with the virus round-the-clock, the Government intends to annul this protection measures. We, the PPPDA, registered an amendment to prevent such a move and will struggle for this amendment to be adopted by Parliament in tomorrow’s sitting,” stated Liviu Vovc, being quoted by IPN.

Attending the conference, PPPDA leader Andrei Năstase said that in six months of the reporting of the first infection with the novel coronavirus in Moldova, the number of infections rose to 40,556, with 4,345 of these being healthcare workers. In the period, those who are in power made reprovable public statements by asserting that the doctors intentionally get infected.

“It should be noted that 173 health professionals became infected during the last seven days alone. This shows that after six months of the start of the pandemic, Igor Dodon’s Government is unable to ensure the protection of frontline medical staff,” stated Andrei Năstase.

“I want to say that immediately after I become President, all those who took part in taking decisions while managing the health crisis will be subject to a very serious legal assessment focusing on negligence and fulfillment of their duties.”
