PPPDA urges to identify nonparty candidate for 2020 presidential elections

The Political Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” (PPPDA) calls on the democratic political forces to take measures and identify a common nonparty candidate for the presidential elections of 2020. “The serious political situation created in the Republic of Moldova requires an extremely serious and responsible approach to the electoral processes through which we would show that the country’s interests are more important than the party or personal interests,” says a call issued on January 14 that is quoted by IPN.

According to the call, the political situation worsened significantly after Moldova’s President Igor Dodon took over by lie and betrayal and is pushing the country towards social turbulence and international isolation. “Today, the necessity of a union between the democratic forces before an antidemocratic regime is as topical as in 2016, when, even if nothing recommended this, the DA Platform gave up having an own candidate in the presidential elections in the public interest,” runs the call.

The PPPDA calls upon all the authentic, representative democratic forces of Moldova to combine forces and identify a common, politically unaffiliated candidate for the upcoming presidential elections.

The call does not contain clear arguments as to why the common candidate should be politically unaffiliated.
