The Political Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” (PPPDA) proposed Andrei Nastase as a common candidate for President of the democratic and anti-oligarchic forces. It offered the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” (PAS) time until October 13, 2pm, to react to this proposal. If the PAS does not accept the proposal, the PPPDA will take part in the October 30, 2016 presidential elections by sporting the candidate of the PAS in the election campaign, IPN reports.
In a press statement, the PPPDA says the nomination of Andrei Nastase as a common candidate will strengthen the democratic forces based on a common platform, with a common agenda that will refer both to the presidential elections and to the early parliamentary elections. Thus, the PAS will have the right to field the candidate for Prime Minister.
“Regretfully, our partners rejected the additional mechanisms for identifying the common candidate proposed by the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth”. We now reached a state when the delay in nominating a common candidate is harmful and endangers not only the efficiency of the election campaign, but also the country’s chance to see the change that is long-awaited by the people,” said the PPPDA.
PAS leader Maia Sandu reacted concisely to the PPPDA’s statement. In a post on a social networking site, Maia Sandu wrote: “We witness decisive moments for our country. That’s why it is important to remain calm and to together take rational decisions”.
