The parliamentary group of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” (PPPDA) asks to urgently call a meeting of the Parliament’s commission on national security, defense and public order in Cocieri village that is situated on the left side of the Nistru and is administered by the constitutional authorities. The meeting should involve representatives of the Government, mayors and councilors of the involved localities and also veterans of the Nistru conflict so as to collect facts about the real state of affairs, to analyze the destructive factors that lead to tensions in the Security Zone and to identify solutions to restore peace and order in the region, IPN quoted MP Kiril Moțpan as saying in a press briefing.
According to Kiril Moțpan, the enumerated things are within the remit of this commission and their neglecting by the commission members means neglecting of a direct threat to national security.
The MP noted that the situation in the Security Zone of the Republic of Moldova is worrisome. The separatist Transnistrian authorities set up illegal checkpoints around the localities that are managed by the constitutional authorities. Moreover, the separatist administration delimited the territory by establishing a so-called “state border” and instituted control over the flow of persons, motor vehicles and goods that travel to and from the region.
Kiril Moțpan said these actions created different inconveniences to the people whose right to free movement is violated. Access to institutions, including medical ones, is blocked. The people are systematically humiliated. The veterans of the Nistru war are also indignant at such acts.
Recently, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Cristina Lesnic said that Tiraspol removed 15 mobile posts of the 37 checkpoints that were set up unilaterally in the Security Zone during the state of emergency in connection with COVID-19.
