The administration of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” (PPPDA) on June 23 presented 15 priority measures of the “new government” for the first 100 days. The measures are announced in the context of the criticism leveled by the opposition to the current government and the PPPPDA’s intentions to assume the appointment of a new executive, IPN reports.
“The Republic of Moldova is going through one of the most difficult periods, if not the most difficult period in its history. Regrettably, this period is even more dramatic as the general crisis we face is managed incompetently and irresponsibly by the decision makers. Therefore, a radical and robust change is now needed in dealing with the enormous risks to which we are exposed in the sanitary, economic and social spheres and a set of immediate measures are needed whose urgent implementation would offer us a real chance to overcome the situation,” the leader of the PPPDA Andrei Năstase told a news conference.
He said that his party aims to radically reduce the COVID-19 mortality rate, to stop the spread of infection, to step up the efforts to isolate the hotbeds. The PPPDA also suggests measures aimed at protecting, promoting and stimulating the medical personnel, including the creation of capacities to prevent and manage the crisis, adjusting the fines and ensuring the observance of the epidemiological norms, in a uniform way towards all the citizens, including state officials.
The party pleads for the separation of the Ministry of Health from the Ministry of Social Protection and suggests reorganizing the state public health surveillance system and creating the National Disease Control Center and the National Public Health Institute.
In the economic sector, the PPPDA proposes measures to partially cover the losses sustained by SMEs during the crisis. The party aims to unblock the issuing of force majeure certificates to private individuals and legal entities that were affected by the pandemic restrictions.
The party’s representatives undertake to stimulate national producers. They consider it is necessary to maximally reduce all the costs that are not urgent. Among the priorities are the ensuring of predictability in agriculture, adoption of payment breaks or exemption of farmers affected by the natural calamities of 2020 from paying taxes, compensation of for some of the costs associated with the purchase of wheat and barley seeds and working out of a strategy for ensuring the efficient use of water resources for irrigation.
The representatives of the parliamentary opposition repeatedly criticized the work done by the current Government led by Prime Minister Ion Chicu. The representatives of the PPPDA said they are ready to assume a new Government. Earlier, the leader of the PPPDA noted the party banks on the votes of 60-70 MPs for the Government assumed by the party. “I hope that 60-70 MPs will vote for the new Government as leaving the country in chaos is a crime,” he stated.
