The Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” (PPPDA) pleads for fielding a common, nonparty candidate of the parties of the center-right for President in this year’s presidential elections. If the parties do not reach a consensus, the PPPDA is ready to field its own candidate, the party’s vice president Alexandru Slusari was quoted by IPN as saying in a news conference.
Alexandru Slusari said the idea of a common, nonparty candidate will be discussed with representatives of five-six parties of the center-right and of civil society in the course of this week.
He noted that if a compromise is not achieved, the PPPDA will propose an own candidate as it does not face a shortage of personalities. He refused to give names yet. Asked about the chances of the PPPDA leader Andrei Năstase in the presidential elections, Alexandru Slusari said these are big. “Andrei Năstase has sufficient capacities to successfully represent the party and to obtain a nice score despite all the difficulties,” he stated.
In the presidential elections of 2016, the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” supported the Action and Solidarity Party’s candidate Maia Sandu.
