The Political Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” (PPPDA) issued a public statement where it describes a proposal on lustration and cleaning of the political class of Moldova that it intends to promote when it comes to power, IPN reports.

According to the PPPDA, the process of cleaning the political class and the whole administrative system will be ensured simultaneously by two ways: by creating the conditions needed to bring to justice all those who usurped the state institutions and committed crimes that led to the impoverishing of the people, and through lustration.

Heavyweights of the PPPDA said the most important case in which the anticorruption institutions will shed light include the banking frauds, the conceding of the Chisinau International Airport and the laundering of billions of dollars coming from Russian through the Moldovan banking system.

The statement says lustration will be ensured through the approval and strict implementation of the legislation that will ban persons who were accomplices to the “political police” in the Soviet period from holding public posts and elective posts for life. In this regard, the PPPDA commits itself to declassifying the archives of the security services and to ensuring unhampered access to these documents.

The party also pledges to adopt and implement the proportional-preferential voting system with open lists, based on the initiative that it launched on June 26, 2017.
