The Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” (PPPDA) warns that the bill to rectify the law on the public pension system that is promoted by the government annuls the double value rise in the revenues of over 400,000 pensioners. In a news conference, leaders of the party said the rectification refers to the indexation of all the pensions two times a year, but with the inflation coefficient for the previous six months, as it was until December2019.
PPPDA leader Andrei Năstase said that this way they restore the formula that was applied before December 2019, when pensions were indexed in accordance with the annual inflation coefficient, not the average annual rise in consumer prices for the past three years.
The party’s vice president Alexandru Slusari said the pensioners should expect that their pensions on April 1 will be indexed by 3.5% and on October 1 also by 3.5% most probably. This way, pensions will be indexed by at most 7%, not by 16%, as the bill approved by Parliament last December provides.
“The amendment to the law on the public pension system passed by Parliament last December will be practically annulled and, owing to the unordinary social opportunism of Dodon and the catastrophic impotence of the current government, the ensuring of the stable improvement of the living conditions of the elderly people will be fully compromised. Amid the recent rises of about 45% in interurban transport fares, which affect the most vulnerable sections of society, including pensions, the policies of the Government controlled by Dodon are evidently antisocial,” it is said in a press release issued by the party.
The PPPDA announced it will submit a censure motion and will mount protests if the bill is adopted.
Contacted by IPN, Vitalie Dragancea, adviser to the Prime Minister, said the assertions of those from the PPPDA are incorrect and the pensioners will benefit from higher pensions as a result of indexations.
