PPPDA asks CC to determine constitutionality of Shor Party

The MPs of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” filed an application to the Constitutional Court, asking this to determine the constitutionality of the Shor Party. They also drafted a bill by which they suggest making the penalty harsher, from contravention to crime, for political parties that use undeclared, noncompliant or foreign funds, IPN reports.

The MPs challenge the constitutionality of the Shor Party that, according to the PPPDA, by its actions and goals flouts the rule of law principle and this is against the provisions of the Constitution. The MPs said they provided evidence of the irregularities and violations of the electoral legislation committed by the Shor Party in each elections in which it ran, which confirm the use of illegal means  for strengthening political influence. This runs counter to the rule of law principle.

In a news conference, MP Stela Macari reminded that she and her colleague Maria Ciobanu in September 2019 requested the Ministry of Justice to strike the Shor Party off the state register of legal entities.

The application to the CC and the bill were compiled by PPPDA MP Dinu Plîngău.
