The “Pentru Neam si Tara” (For Nation and Country) Party (PPNT) Thursday announced it abandons the electoral race in favor of the Moldova Noastra Alliance (AMN), Info-Prim Neo reports. The PPNT president Nicolae Utica told a news conference that the decision was made at the extraordinary meeting of the National Political Council of the PPNT on March 25. “We consider that the decision meets the interests of our party and the national interests of Moldova aimed at strengthening the Democratic pole in the current election campaign. The AMN is now the major political party – the digger of the grave of the current Communist government, and it showed that it strictly fulfills its commitments. Our electoral platforms and programs are much the same and promote our political objectives,” Nicolae Utica said. The PPNT called on its members and supporters to vote for the AMN on April 5. It also recommended the other smaller parties with minimum chances of entering the Parliament and the independent candidates to follow its example. The PPNT leader said that the party has not yet negotiated with the AMN for places on its electoral list and posts in the future Government. Instead, the party won the AMN’s support for several major objectives expressed in its electoral program, including: the fright against corruption, observance of human rights, provision of decent salaries, improvement of the situation in agriculture, etc. At the same time, the PPNT has said it will remain an independent political party and will continue its work after the election campaign. During the current election campaign, the party spent 34,000 lei. The Social-Political Movement “Pentru Neam si Tara” was founded on May 5, 2007.On January 2009, the organization was registered as the Political Party “Pentru Neam si Tara”. It is Social-Liberal in orientation and has 5,600 members.
