PPDA questions legality of signatures collected by PDM

The Political Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” (PPDA) submitted an application to the OSCE, the Central Election Commission (CEC), the Association “Promo-Lex”, international organizations and embassies working in Moldova, the IMF, Parliament, the Government, the Prosecutor’s Office, the National Integrity Commission and the independent media outlets in connection with the signals about the illegal practices of collection of signatures in support of the PDM’s candidate for President, which came from people from different districts of the country.

“The people informed us that the state bodies obliged the own employees to put their signatures on the subscription lists, being threatened with the loss of jobs. Such practices were used by Moldova’s Port Office, Moldtelecom, Moldovagaz, the Information Resources Center “Registru”, schools, hospitals, etc. The same sources said that Plahotniuc’s acolytes collected signatures before the PDM fielded an official candidate,” the PPDA says in a press release, quoted by IPN.

According to the PPDA, the ‘super-swiftness’ showed by the state party (PDM, e.n.) was possible by using administrative resources and by the anticipated collection and fabrication of signatures. “Given such illegal and manipulating actions, the PDMs’ candidate could be declared a ‘winner’ even before the vote count,” it is said in the press release.

Expressing its doubt in the objectivity of the CEC and law enforcement agencies of Moldova, the PPDA asks for immediate and unconditional access for its representatives and for other interested sides to the set of documents presented by the PDM. In this connection, the PPDA calls on other parties and possible contenders, to national and international observers to delegate by a representative to the CEC by 10am on September 5.
