Councilors Ion Gabura and Anatol Rurac Friday announced that they decided to leave the faction of the Christian Democratic People's Party (PPCD) in the Chisinau Municipal Council, Info-Prim Neo reports. Ion Gabura said they took the decision uninfluenced and consider it right. “We do not do it because we reached certain agreements inside the party. On the contrary, our colleagues supported us in our decision, which is logical, mature and reflects the present political situation,” Gabura said, adding that from now on they will work as unaffiliated MPs. Unaffiliated MP Oleg Cernei said that in accordance with the Chisinau Council's regulations, the factions must consist of at least three councilors. “As two councilors defected from the four-member PPCD faction, this faction should be disbanded,” he said. The leader of the Christian-Democratic faction in the Council Alexandru Corduneanu said the party is now in a difficult situation. “It is hard to resist temptations in difficult situations. Who cannot resist, assumes responsibility. “The disbandment of the PPCD faction will not prejudice the work of the Chisinau Council and of the party in this Council. We are two and will take decisions jointly in continuation,” he said.
