PPCD booed at Eminescu’s monument

The events to mark 120 years of Mihai Eminescu’s death held in Chisinau had been accompanied by incidents. The leader of Christian Democratic People’s Party (PPCD) Iurie Rosca and several other members of the party that came to lay flowers to Eminescu’s bust on the Alley of Classical Writers were booed by persons attending the events. “Go away traitors. We must not be near the person that you betrayed,” some persons shouted. “Rosca showed his attitude towards the language, people and the country in the previous Parliament. The facts speak for themselves and he should not try to prove his devotion to the national values as the people do not believe him anymore,” said Valentina Cusnir, MP in the former Parliament and former member of the PPCD. “Years are needed to build a name and only one deed to lose it,” said poet Ion Hadarca, who is a member of the parliamentary group of the Liberal Party. Vice president of the PPCD Vlad Cubreacov said that it is disrespect to do something like this near Eminescu’s bust. “Eminescu is everyone’s poet and such a gesture is inappropriate for such solemn events,” Vlad Cubreacov stated for Info-Prim Neo.
